Blanchon Initial NF Varnish is a one-component water-based polyurethane varnish. It enhances light wood shades while preserving their original colours. The Initial varnish contains only 35 g of volatile organic compounds (VOC) per litre. This water-based varnish is made of a new formula (NF) specially adapted to the Canadian weathers and wood species. Unlike other water-based varnishes, it won’t mask the wood grain and will produce no whitish effect over time. It preserves the natural aspect of clear woods, its milky colour fades completely when drying. Blanchon Initial NF is an economic and sustainable product recommended for residential floors, furniture, woodwork and all interior wood pieces.
The wood must be clean of any old varnish, oil, wax or other finishing products. Sand the wood ending with a 120 grit paper and carefully remove the dust. Seal the cracks and gaps using filler. Dye if needed following the instructions.
For wood that has been scoured, dust off removing all residues. Clean the surface and sand with 120 grit paper.
Acclimate the product at an ambient temperature above 12 ° C. Do not apply at a relative humidity of more than 85%. Use only in well-ventilated areas.
Apply the varnish in the wood grain direction with a roller (10 mm). Let dry for 3 hours and sand with a 180 paper between layers. The varnish slightly “milky” appearance disappears when drying.
3 coats are needed. You can substitute the first varnish coats with Blanchon Prim’Sealer or Prim’Gold.
Initial NF applies to bare woods, to woods dyed with vegetal oil based dye or on most non-sealing water-based or alcohol-based dye.
105 sq. Ft. Per litre.
