Sizes
Flooring can come in various sizes, this helps match the height of existing floors and adds another design aspect to selecting floors. Here at Antique Hardwood Flooring we have a wide range of available sizes for many products and will help you chose the best product.
There are two sizes that we have control over when purchasing a floor:
1) Width– The main focus when it comes to size. This dimension of the floor changes the look and potentially the installation method (Wide planks over 5″ have to be glued down).
2) Height– This will be more of a concern for the technician helping you choose a floor, as matching the existing height in a house when replacing the floors is typically best.
We are going to break size down a bit further to help understand what is available, different widths are available for different Platforms of floor (recommended to read Platforms prior to reading this). So we are going to list the most available sizes for select platforms:
Solid – Width available (1 3/4″ – 6″) ; Height available (3/8″, 1/2″, 5/8″, 3/4″)
Engineered – Width available (3″ – 12″) ; Height available (1/2″ and 5/8″)
Floating – Width available (3″ – 12″) ; Height available (3/8″, 1/2″ 5/8″)
Other – Various Sizes. Product specific.
Note: These are the most common available sizes, there may be more available for a specific product. There also may be less available for a product, to ensure what is available for a product check available sizes on the manufactures page or call in to get assistance.
